The Institute of Process Research and Design (iPRD) has positioned itself to work closely with business. iPRD is able to draw from a large knowledge-base of internationally leading chemists and process engineers in order to develop solutions to specific problems within the fine chemicals industry Through our wide range of industry experienced academics we are able to able to offer consultancy, collaborative projects and contractual work to meet your needs.
Our facilities include a brand new state-of-the-art process laboratory containing the following useful equipment to meet the needs of our clients:
- Highly PAT instrumented 20 and 50 litre batch units for process data gathering and scale-up.
- Reaction and parallel calorimeters for chemical hazard and reaction progress monitoring.
- Continuous processing equipment for multi-kilo scale production and scale-up data.
- Process development separation and isolation equipment.
- Process analytical FTIR, turbidity, ultrasound, XRD, tomography.
We are highly flexible in the scope of work we can undertake, from providing services and problem solving for local business to developing new process and innovation within industry. Examples of the services we can offer include:
- Design of novel syntheses and processes.
- Process optimisation to reduce costs and energy use and increase product quality.
- Development of analytical methods and characterisation of products and unknowns.
- Process understanding and scale-up.
- Product characterisation and sample analysis.
- Provision of 1kg quantities of product material.
- Extensive training and teaching including IChemE and RSC approved training and undergraduate/postgraduate opportunities.
iPRD has a proven track record of delivering solutions to many satisfied customers and has received awards and grants from the RSC and Technology Strategy Board; we are able to provide a fully confidential service to our clients and can assist with IP exploitation.
